British Sign Language students visit Manchester Deaf Centre

Adult learners from the British Sign Language programme recently visited the Manchester Deaf Centre.

Whilst there, students spoke to centre staff, demonstrated their British Sign Language skills and learned about potential progression opportunities.

Student Rose Lambert spoke for the entire group when she praised the hospitality of the people from the Manchester Deaf Centre.

“The evening was memorable and I definitely came away with a renewed passion for learning sign language”. – Rose Lambert

Joining the group was Charis Townsend, a former college BSL learner, who is currently studying for her Level 2 qualification at the Manchester Deaf Centre. Charis regularly visits BSL classes at the college to support individual learners.

“Volunteering with the classes at the college has taught me so much and it’s really helping me review a lot of my basic signs and most importantly, it’s allowing me to engage with others to help them with their passion of learning BSL. The students are a lovely group and they made me feel very welcome when I first started volunteering”. – Charis Townsend
