Trafford College, working with their local community parish members and Age UK Trafford, are setting aside regular Wednesday afternoons to invite in the local community to enjoy social events with students.
Age UK Trafford is an independent local charity. They have been working in the local community to help older people for 43 years with 25 dedicated staff and over 90 volunteers helping to deliver services and activities for older people in Trafford. Age UK works nationwide in the communities to support older people, their families and carers.
Our first Welcome Wednesday took place on Wednesday 9th March, and was well attended. Students offered afternoon tea and board games, and an opportunity to chat and get to know the local community members. This was a really rewarding experience for our students and their invited guests.
Our next Welcome Wednesday is currently being planned and will support students working with community members to support digital inclusion as well as a social get together with refreshments.
