Course Overview

This introductory course at Stretford Library will help learners develop confidence in creative self-expression through writing. Learners will explore a range of creative writing techniques and genres including poetry, short stories, and personal narrative. Each session encourages reflection, imagination, and sharing ideas in a supportive environment.

Course Requirements

No formal qualifications are required. This course is suitable for adults aged 19+ who have an interest in creative writing or wish to build confidence in expressing themselves through words. Basic English reading and writing skills are helpful but not essential – support will be provided as needed.

What you will Learn

By the end of the course, students will:
– Understand the basic elements of creative writing (character, setting, dialogue, and structure)
– Use prompts and activities to generate ideas
– Experiment with different styles and forms of writing
– Build confidence in giving and receiving feedback

Assessment
