Course Overview

The hospitality industry presents a wealth of exciting opportunities. If you’re considering a career in this dynamic field, roles such as chef, kitchen assistant, housekeeper, waitress, or hotel receptionist are excellent starting points. We provide an introductory Certificate in Hospitality, which is customized according to your interests for each of these roles.

To undertake these qualifications, a job or work placement is not necessary, though it can enhance your learning experience if you have one. The Certificate in Hospitality is intended for those who are new to the industry, often with no previous experience, including individuals who may still be attending school or college.

Course Requirements

4 GCSE’s at Grade 2 or above (including maths and English Language).

What you will Learn

As you progress, you may select a focus area such as restaurant service, professionalism, reception duties, housekeeping, or administration.

To obtain an NVQ, you must demonstrate a specific skill set that aligns with the demands of the fast-paced industry.

Assessment

NVQs are assessed at work or in a simulated workplace. For each unit your assessor watches and asks questions as you perform a task, or looks at a portfolio of work that you’ve built as formal evidence of your learning. Then they confirm you’ve got the skills to do the job well.

Progression

From here you can progress onto the Level 2 Hospitiality course, or seek to gain an Apprenticeship
