Course Overview

You will be given the opportunity to create exciting projects with clay and learn various sculpting, decorating and glazing techniques along the way. Experiment with throwing, hand building, press moulding and decorating your pottery.

Course Requirements

No formal qualifications are necessary, just an interest in ceramics and sculpture, together with enthusiasm and commitment.

What you will Learn

During this short, leisure course, you will create unique ceramic items from clay using a range of materials, techniques and processes, including hand building and using a potter’s wheel.


There is no formal assessment however you will be asked to complete a RARPA confidence survey.

This will happen at the start and end of the course and will record your progress in this subject.


You can carry on with this course each term, developing your skills.

Career Options

You may wish to progress on to an accredited qualification in a creative arts subject which will allow you to practice your skills in the industry.
