Course Overview

Maths skills are required in every job or training opportunity. If you need to gain a GCSE maths qualification for entry into employment or further training our professional staff will deliver clearly focussed and exciting maths activities, aimed at developing a range of skills. Classes will focus on individual needs and abilities and offer a wide range of innovative teaching and learning approaches to help you achieve your goals.

Course Requirements

Any adult can apply for GCSE Maths. Those who have a GCSE grade 3, or Level 2 Functional Skills in Maths achieved within the last 5 years, will be interviewed for suitability but will not need to complete an initial assessment. For applicants that have older/no formal qualifications, your basic Numeracy skills will be initially assessed through a written assessment. Please note, in most cases we are unable to offer you a resit if you already have a grade GCSE grade 4.

What you will Learn

In this course you will learn a range of numeracy skill including number, algebra, geometry and statistics. There are 2 levels of study, Foundation and Higher – the tutor will decide which level is appropriate for your individual needs.
There are four areas: number, algebra, geometry and statistics.

Assessment

You will complete 3 exams, one non-calculator paper and two calculator papers in May / June.

This is an essential qualification for employment and/or further training.
