Course Overview

This comprehensive autism course is designed to provide learners with an in-depth understanding of the spectrum disorder. This includes how both adults and children with autism may process sensory information differently from others.
Our Autism Awareness course is suitable for a wide range of learners. This includes parents, educators, and healthcare professionals.

Unlike other training courses, this qualification is 100% online based. This means you can study at a time and pace that suits you.

All learners will be supported by a qualified tutor who will mark your coursework and provide feedback. This ensures that you will have the highest quality of learning and that you will properly understand the course content.
Upon the completion of this course, you will receive an NCFE CACHE accredited certificate. This is recognised by employers and ensures the qualification has been tested for quality of learning.

The course is delivered online and is flexible around your needs. The course is available throughout the year with multiple start dates.

Course Requirements

No previous training or experience is required for this programme, but you must be over 19 on the 31 August before the course start date.

What you will Learn

Students will learn how to support individuals with autism to enable them to live healthy and fulfilled lives and the essential strategies and considerations required in providing support such as understanding the characteristics, challenges, and strengths of individuals with autism.

Assessment

This course will be delivered remotely with live lectures and support sessions schedule for a total of 4.5 hours a week for 12 consecutive weeks from the course start date. Within these sessions there will be tutor delivery, question and answer, discussion, group work tasks and individual tasks.

It is expected that you will complete a minimum of 3 hours independent study, each week, outside of the class to complete the assessment tasks which take the form of electronic workbooks.

This qualification will support many roles including:
 residential support worker
 care assistant
 mental health support or a clinical support worker
 childcare practitioner
 teaching assistant
 teachers
 pastoral support workers.

You could also from this qualification progress onto further study including:
 Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People’s Workforce (Social Care)
 Level 3 Certificate in Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care
 Level 3 Diploma in Adult Care
 Level 3 Certificate in Understanding Autism
