Trafford College’s STEM students recently had the brilliant opportunity to take part in a physics focused workshop, organised by innovative social enterprise The Blair Project and assisted by Fuzzy Logic Studio on their STEM Truck visit.
Who is The Blair Project?
The Blair Project is a “disruptive social enterprise that exists to inspire the next generation of high-tech engineers through electric karting and digital manufacturing & design project-based activities to enthuse young people (aged 15-18) to pursue careers in the fast growth science, engineering, technology and digital sectors”. Founded by CEO Nile Henry, alongside his brother and Motorsport Manager, Blair Henry.
They aim to target young people who may not be aware of the careers that the engineering and technology industry have to offer. Their core purpose is to inspire confidence in female, BAME and white-working class talent. Social mobility and diversity are at the heart of their work. Having worked with 560 youth since 2014, The Blair Project is certainly trailblazing their way in Manchester’s Tech and STEM scene.
STEM TRUCK VISIT
The Blair Project visited Stretford campus to give students a taste of physics and engineering through their multiple workshops, including the STEM Truck (3D Printing). To see more about the STEM Truck, click the video below:
The aim of the workshop was also to advise students on the many career opportunities that come with studying physics and how to get their start in the industry. Students were able to take part in mini workshops including 3D printing and circuit building.
The visit from The Blair Project was a fantastic morning for the Stretford students and gave them the space to be inquisitive about the STEM industry as well as apply their existing knowledge to the tasks.
