Course Overview

This is an occupational qualification that provides studentswith the knowledge, understanding and skills to work as a spa therapist. This qualification is based on Habia National Occupational Standards (NOS). This qualification is recognised by the UK’s largest beauty/spa therapy trade body/professional association, The Federation of Holistic Therapists (FHT) and also the UK’s second largest association representing spa/beauty therapy employers, the British Association of Beauty Therapy and Cosmetology (BABTAC) as being fit for purpose for preparing learners for a career as a spa therapist.

This qualification has specifically been designed for the 16-19 age group and builds on existing knowledge and understanding of beauty therapy gained at Level 2, enabling learners to expand the scope of their technical skills to prepare learners for employment as a spa therapist.

What you will Learn

The content of this qualification is comprised of all the required elements to work effectively as a spa therapist including health and safety, client care and communication, providing spa treatments such as hydrotherapy, body wraps wet flotation and dry flotation as well has how to operate, monitor and maintain the spa area including sauna and steam other equipment.

Learners also have the opportunity to undertake optional units to enhance their range of practical skills such as body massage, massage using pre-blended aromatherapy oils, body electrotherapy, stone therapy and Indian head massage.
