Course Overview

Welcome to the Hairdressing Department.

Boasting state-of-the-art facilities and tutors who are experts in the industry, our course is tailored for those aspiring to pursue a career in salon hairdressing. Whether you’re considering a career change or aiming to enter a field with high employability, our course is dedicated to providing you with the specialized knowledge and skills required. It also focuses on helping learners improve their personal grooming abilities and wellbeing.

Course Requirements

This course is ideal for individuals with little or no experience in the beauty industry

To join the course, you must be 19 or over. Students whose first language is not English must have completed ESOL at Entry 3.

What you will Learn

Gain specialist knowledge and skills to develop the ability to have basic skills in hairdressing, customer service, client care and consultation.

Assessment

Assessment is continuous by observation of practical skills, development of a portfolio and multiple-choice questioning to test underpinning knowledge.

Progression

You can progress on to our hairdressing and barbering courses at our fabulous commercial salons. Your tutor will give you advice and guidance on other courses within the college and can signpost you for more advice and training.

If you are interested in further developing skills and would look to develop your skills for employment, more advanced courses could be available.

– Free English and maths courses for those who have not yet attained a grade at C at GCSE (grade 4 equivalent)
– Free digital literacy courses for beginners in computing and tablets
– Free positive steps to wellbeing courses to support improved mental wellbeing, health, and confidence

This Course is designed to help you to progress in your career as a hairdresser giving you greater career opportunities. Develop skills to become a self-employed trader or work towards employment in hair salons.
