Course Overview

This qualification is intended as an introduction qualification for those who wish to enter any of the following industries:

Pipe Skills
Heating and Ventilating
General Plumbing

To achieve this Level 1, learners must achieve 45 credits from 8 mandatory units. Learning is through classroom based and practical workshop activities.

Completion of Functional Skills Level 1 Maths and English is compulsory unless a suitable exemption by GCSE certificates can be provided.
Learners must be dedicated and committed to the requirements of the course and Trafford College with a high level of attendance and punctuality supported by continued home study.

Course Requirements

4 GCSEs at grade 2 or above (including GCSE maths and English Language at Grade 3 or above).

What you will Learn

This qualification is suitable if you want to enter the plumbing industry. It gives you the opportunity to pick up some core skills and knowledge and upon successful completion, allows you to progress to Level 2 Plumbing Foundation.


The College staff will administer and monitor practical and written assessments covering the range of units of competence.


Onto the Level 2 Diploma in Plumbing Studies.
