Course Overview

This brand new course is designed to equip you with the skills, knowledge and understanding needed to achieve high performance in the engineering and manufacturing environment. It will give you the confidence to work across different engineering functions and to lead, manage, respond to change and tackle a range of complex engineering situations.

This pathway will provide the core skills required for a range of careers in engineering and offer a balance between employability skills and essential knowledge. The Level 4 units lay the foundation of learning by providing a broad introduction to the engineering sector as well as a focused introduction to latest advancements in engineering.

Our dedicated faculty, comprised of experienced professionals, will guide you through the latest industry trends, technological advancements, and sustainable practices. You will also develop essential skills in problem-solving, project management, and teamwork, all of which are highly valued by employers in the field. This takes place in our state-of-the art facilities.

Course Requirements

Whilst applications are considered on an individual basis, offers are usually made of the requirement to have:

64 UCAS points from either:

– A Level 3 vocational qualification in a relevant subject
– GCE A Levels
– A Access to Higher Education Diploma in a relevant subject

Applicants should have GCSEs grade C/4 or above in mathematics and English

Mature students with relevant work experience and/or professional qualifications are welcome to apply, and may be invited to interview.

What you will Learn

You will develop understanding of the major impact that new digital and software technologies have on the engineering environment and gain insight to engineering operations and the opportunities and challenges presented by a global marketplace.

You will study a broad range of units that will be delivered via hands-on laboratory sessions, workshops, and industry-relevant projects. This is designed to enhance your practical expertise, enabling you to apply theoretical concepts to real-world scenarios.

Assessment

Coursework and Assignments: Coursework and assignments are common assessment tools. Students are given specific projects or tasks related to their coursework, and they are evaluated on their ability to apply theoretical knowledge to practical problems.

Practical Work: Practical laboratory sessions are a crucial part of an electrical engineering program. Students may be assessed on their ability to conduct experiments, analyse data, and draw conclusions from their findings. Reports and Technical Writing: Students may be required to write technical reports based on their laboratory work or projects. These reports assess their ability to communicate technical information effectively.

Presentations: Students may be asked to give presentations on engineering topics, projects, or case studies. This assesses their communication and presentation skills, as well as their understanding of the subject matter.

Progression

On successful completion you may progress to the HND at Level 5 and subsequently to professional qualifications and/or a top-up Degree at Level 6, on a related undergraduate programme such as:

BEng (Hons) Engineering
BEng (Hons) Engineering and Computer Science
BEng (Hons) Engineering and Computer Systems
BEng (Hons) Engineering and Management
