Course Overview

This course covers the technical needs for basic repair and preparation procedures. It provides essential knowledge and skills for vehicle body painters, working on a wide range of vehicles, in all types of garages, dealerships and specialist body paint businesses.

As part of the L2 Diploma in Vehicle Accident Repair Paint Principles learners will study the following units:

Health and safety in the workplace
Working in the automotive environment
Vehicle paint tools and equipment
Application of fillers and foundation materials
Vehicle paint preparation
Rectifying minor paint defects
Working with plastic materials

Course Requirements

4 GCSEs at grade 3 or above including maths and English Language.

Applicants will also be required to complete an assessment, which must be successfully finished to a satisfactory standard prior to being offered a place on the course.

What you will Learn

The course is a mixture of practical and theoretical knowledge. Approximately 50% of the work will be classroom based.

The practical element of the course takes place in our fully equipped motor vehicle paint shop, learners are required to provide their own safety footwear and protective overalls.

Assessment

The programme is based on continuous practical assessment along with completion of a portfolio of evidence. Each unit also includes a written assessment and multi-choice examination.

Progression

Successful candidates can progress on to the IMI Level 3 Diploma in Vehicle Accident Repair Paint Principles or onto an apprenticeship.
