Course Overview

This art course is designed for adults with a basic understanding of art. Through a series of engaging lessons and projects, students will explore advanced techniques, develop their personal style, and gain a deeper understanding of the principles of art. The course will cover various subjects, including still life, atmospheric landscape, techniques allowing students to expand their artistic repertoire.

Course Requirements

A basic level of art – drawing, watercolours and painting is advisable.
A set of pencils, paper and charcoal will need to be brought to the session. Tutor can advise further.

What you will Learn

Students learn about various drawing tools, such as different pencils and charcoals, and how paper surfaces affect their art. They practice hand-eye coordination through line and contour drawing, creating expressive shapes. The class teaches turning basic shapes into 3D forms and explores shading techniques like hatching and blending. Still life setups are used for practising observation, focusing on light and shadow. Students also explore perspective, portraiture, figure drawing, and composition basics. The class encourages developing observational skills by simplifying complex subjects.
