Course Overview
This introductory course at Stretford Library will help learners develop confidence in creative self-expression through writing. Learners will explore a range of creative writing techniques and genres including poetry, short stories, and personal narrative. Each session encourages reflection, imagination, and sharing ideas in a supportive environment.
Course Requirements
No formal qualifications are required. This course is suitable for adults aged 19+ who have an interest in creative writing or wish to build confidence in expressing themselves through words. Basic English reading and writing skills are helpful but not essential - support will be provided as needed.
What you will Learn
By the end of the course, students will:
- Understand the basic elements of creative writing (character, setting, dialogue, and structure)
- Use prompts and activities to generate ideas
- Experiment with different styles and forms of writing
- Build confidence in giving and receiving feedback
- Produce short written pieces that express personal voice and creativity

Assessment
This course is informally assessed through participation, discussion, and short writing activities. Students will receive ongoing feedback from the tutor in a supportive environment. There is no formal exam or written test.
