Course Overview

Becoming a great team leader is not about job titles – it is about how you communicate, how you build trust, and how you lead people every day.

The Level 2 CMi Team Leading units are designed to give you the skills, confidence, and mindset to lead effectively from day one.

Whether you are new to leadership or ready to take the next step, these units help you turn potential into performance.

What you will Learn

Module 1: Communicating with a Team – Because great leadership starts with great communication
Clear communication builds trust, boosts morale, and keeps everyone moving in the same direction. This unit helps students master the everyday conversations that define successful team leadership.
Students will develop the skills to:
– Communicate clearly, confidently, and professionally
– Adapt communication styles for different personalities and situations
– Give constructive feedback that motivates, not demotivates
– Listen actively and handle misunderstandings effectively

Module 2: Building Work Relationships – Strong relationships build strong teams
Trust and respect don not happen by accident – they are built intentionally. This unit focuses on developing professional relationships that support collaboration, accountability, and wellbeing at work.
Students will learn how to:
– Build positive working relationships with colleagues and managers
– Encourage teamwork and cooperation
– Handle disagreements professionally and calmly
– Understand the impact of behaviour, attitude, and emotional intelligence

Module 3: Being a Team Leader – Lead by example. Inspire action. Drive results.
This unit brings everything together – focusing on what it really means to be a team leader in a modern workplace. Learners explore responsibility, accountability, and leadership behaviours that make a real difference.
Learners will gain confidence in:
– Understanding the role and responsibilities of a team leader
– Leading by example and setting clear expectations
– Supporting team members’ development and performance
– Contributing to wider organisational goals
